MYTI Christmas

The MYTI Club organised a special Christmas for its members.

On Thursday 21st December , professional chef and restauranteur, Laurence Bowes, prepared a special Turkey Curry lunch for over 70 children. Laurence owns The Rock Inn at Chiddingstone and The Royal Oak Hotel in Hawkhurst and is a great friend of The MYTI Club’s founder, Tony Britto. He previously ran The Derby Arms on Epsom Downs.

In addition to preparing a wonderful tasty and nutritious lunch for the children, Laurence donated 12 kilos of Turkey, crackers for all the children, as well as all the catering sized pots and pans needed which the club can keep for the future. He is a great supporter of young people having spent many years as a Volunteer Captain in the Army Cadet Force. He once catered for 50 cadets on the Top of Mount Snowdon.

On Friday 22nd December MYTI held a Christmas party catered by its own youth worker team.

Jamie McHugh, managing director of MCQ Scaffolding, and another friend of Tony, made a donation to cover the cost of the food.

All club members received a Christmas Package which was funded  by Active Surrey. This included a gift and supply of pasta and other foodstuffs.

There was even a visit from Father Christmas.

Tony Britto founded the MYTI Club over five years ago to provide a safe place for the children living on the Preston Estate. He won a special award from Surrey Police last year for reducing anti-social behaviour in the area by 80%.

The Club achieved charity status last March and since then has received financial support from The Raven Housing Trust, The Charles Lewis Foundation, Surrey County Councillors Nick Harrison and Rebecca Paul, YMCA East Surrey, Active Surrey, Banstead Neighbourhood Fund, Epsom Fireworks Display Charitable Trust, Tadworth & Walton Residents Association, The Coop, London & Surrey Property Holdings and The National Lottery Community Fund.
