If you have access to Club 4 Holiday vouchers and have not already registered, please do so now as this helps finance our activities.
If you are not in receipt of vouchers, we would appreciate a donation to assist us with financing this programme. The easiest way to do this is via our Just giving page which can be reached here.
Sadly, we don’t have full access to The Phoenix Centre during the summer break, but we will be open for 12 days during the holidays. We have three weekly sessions (24th to 27th July, 21st to 24th August and 28th to 31st August).
We will not be open on Friday evenings during August opening again on Friday 8th September
In addition to our normal sports and arts activities and some karaoke sessions, we have adopted three themes for these weeks:
Week 1 (Monday 24th to Thursday 27th July) MYTI MEGA SUPERTEAM CHALLENGE
A competition themed week with lots of activities and competitions with two teams competing
Week 2 (Monday 21st to Thursday 24th August) MYTI COMMUNITY & WELLBEING WEEK
We will be supporting our local community with litter picking and other activities. Our local community police will also be visiting, and we will be running a number of first aid courses.
The courses will cover:
· What is first aid?
· Calling for help - making a 999 call.
· Introduction to DRABC (Danger, Response, Airway, Breathing)
· AEDs (Automated External Defibrillator)
· Recovery positions
· Choking
· Bleeding & bandaging
Upon completion of the course all children will receive a certificate of attendance.
N.B. If you do not wish your child to attend one of these courses (we will be running three groups) – maybe there has been a recent bereavement in the family – please let us know in advance.
There will also be the opportunity for members aged 11+ to visit the gym at Tadworth Leisure Centre to receive a free training session on their gym equipment. We are also looking to invite our local professional boxer, Nathan Mizon – “Mr Excitement”, for a training session.
Week 3 (Monday 28th to Thursday 31st August) MYTI’S GOT TALENT WEEK
We will be working on a number of performance, sporting and art activities that show of the talent of our members.
Following our successful visit during the Easter holidays, we also have two visits planned to The Old Pheasantry, the rural education centre in Mogador.
These visits will be on Tuesday 22nd August and Wednesday 30th August. We will be travelling from The Phoenix Centre by minibus from 10.00 am (staggered journeys) and returning by 4.30 pm. On these days we will supply a picnic lunch rather than our usual hot meal.
We could do with some volunteer parents to help us manage these days. If you think you can help please call me on 07941 672 561 or drop an email to john@myticlub.org.uk.
We will also be repeating our successful slime factory on the 26th July and a new ceramics painting session on 24th August. There will be a small charge for these sessions to cover the cost of materials.
We ask that children who wish to take part in these sessions complete a booking form when visiting next week.
I am sorry that this might be a lot of information for one message but call-in next week with any questions or to book sessions
